Providence College visit

My son and I went yesterday (Columbus day) for a visit and here are a few of our thoughts.  Drive was straightforward, they did not send very much details, no signs other than to park in the garage.  We then had to find the building with a bunch of other lost people.  I found this a bit odd, through sheer luck we found the room where they were having the information session. After that everything went really well and smoothly but it was not the best first impression.  The campus was stunning, it did not feel too small or too big, the buildings we went into all seemed really well maintained.  We did not get to see a dorm room but I like that housing is guaranteed and that people stay on campus.  There was also bussing available to the downtown, that was a nice perk, but it seems like everything is already on campus.  The info session was short and sweet, I was thrilled because I am getting sick of the same old info, they gave the important stuff which I appreciated.  We were randomly assigned a guide, our guy was a junior and did an awesome job selling the place and how happy he is to go there, I think a great guide makes or breaks it.  I think my son could really imagine going there because of some similarities.  We saw a lot of the buildings where people take classes, the amazing gym, fields, food halls, rec spaces, and church.  I did not expect there to be so large of a focus on religion but in my opinion it was everywhere I looked, the kids also talked a lot about faith, church, etc.  My son already goes to a catholic school so is more use to this than myself.  He said he was not bothered by it.  Kids we did see seemed happy, sporty ( I think sports is a big aspect of the school, free time).  We drove around Providence and had lunch which seemed to make my son that much more excited about going to school there.   This is now his number one, but we go to U of Vermont this weekend.  He liked that it is larger than some of the smaller liberal arts, has more of a defined curriculum, and the city is right there.  I liked it, but did not love it (think it was the religious part), but I am not the one to go there.
