Hey Jamie - it was good! I really had no idea what to expect and we liked it. We had a great tour guide and a beautiful day for a visit, so that helps. We were definitely impressed by the marine science building (it was very cool to see kids in there maintaining the aquariums and stuff). The dorm room they showed us was nothing all that great (it felt very industrial) but we were impressed with the dining hall (hello, sushi bar!) and some of the other amenities offered. Elizabeth really liked that each incoming freshman gets an upperclass 'mentor' who shows them around, esp. where each class is that they'll be taking (Elizabeth is very overwhelmed by the idea of getting lost LOL). I also really liked that it didn't feel that different from the small liberal arts schools we've seen so far in terms of size.
I know it'll be very different when we visit URI and UNH!! It's weird to me that it's so new - it was only founded in the 50s, when we've been looking at schools that have been around for hundreds of years.

I think it would be a good safety school for Elizabeth based on the stats etc that we were told, but it's really great to know she can see herself there and it would be a good fit.

I had a lot of the same takeaways.  Avery is extremely nervous about down life, and loved the idea of the weirdly setup building (Maple ?) and everyone floor in for 8 people with  shared space opposed to 40 per floor and the smaller campus etc is really making him like the school.  I would say its a safety school in my eyes but who knows with him.

Avery did not like URI as much but he was very sick a few days before works bad stomach bug and was still feeling odd when we went, he was very cranky and def didnt give it a fair chance.  We arent going to visit UNH unless he gets in since scheming will be tough.  Did you visit UMass Amherst? That is a potential on our list as well.

Ugh, that's too bad that Avery wasn't feeling great for the URI visit. Elizabeth is REALLY looking forward to that visit but also realizes how big it's going to seem.
We may visit UMass Amherst. We're trying to plan a trip to see Mt. Holyoke so it would be an easy add-on. Elizabeth really has no interest in women's only, but my SIL and niece both went and had wonderful experiences. Plus, a girl that she's known since elementary school is going there in the fall and raves about her visit and the 'consortium' they have with the other area schools.
