SAT scores

So Avery got 1250 on his SATs and he seemed disappointed.  He def wants to take it again and asked that I take a look at the college board listing of when he can signup again.  Any thoughts on the score? I know 1600 is your highest - his best friend is a genius and got a 1560 without trying and his girlfriend got a 1420 on her 2nd attempt.  Avery is always comparing himself and I dont want to be disappointed in his score.  But I dont have much insight into the scores.

What types on colleges would he be looking at? That plays into it.

He isnt looking for ivy league level by any means. Hes looking at mostly public universities and two small (URI, Rutgers, UNH and UConn) and Roger Williams University (small private)

Obv the higher the score, the better, but most people take the exam at least twice since college super score, taking the higher of the math and English. (also good for the college to show higher stats of students). Kahn academy is a great free resource.

I swear, I think your kid and mine are the same, LOL!  Elizabeth got 1230, doing much better on the verbal than on the math.  I do think she'll take them again (not sure when?), although she's really leaning towards test-optional scores and not including them. I had never heard of 'superscoring' before, so I definitely think it's worth taking them a second time and trying to bump up the math part!

Seriously! Avery did better on the verbal which I was surprised with since hes so good in math.  He will def take them again but I doubt he will get much higher.  He wants to hit 1300.
