Toured CCSU today

Cass is only a junior, but we thought it would be good to start looking at schools now. I honestly was hoping it would get her excited about college and light a fire under her to work harder these final two years. She wants to go to college for music education and she really wants to be in a college marching band. Since she's not the best student, her options are kind of limited. She understands that she's going to need to apply for schools that don't have a marching band. CCSU has one, though!

Enfield had a scheduled early release today, so we went on the 2pm tour. It was just us and one other family, and the other student was a transfer student. We were a few minutes late because of course there was an accident on I-84 in Hartford and it took us an extra half hour to get there.

We thought the campus was nice - small, but not tiny. There's plenty of parking right on campus. All students get to have their cars on campus, for free, which is nice. The resident student garage is enormous, and the commuter garage was pretty big, too. There are a lot of nice amenities for the students, and there seems to be a lot of activities and clubs to be involved in. We only got to see two of the dorms and the second one we saw was really nice - the rooms are all two bedroom/4 person suites with a private bathroom and living room area. Our tour guide is an RA there and said she absolutely loves living there, but that it's tough to be an RA because of how many students live there. It's a huge dorm and she said that freshman can usually get into it if they request it because of how big it is combined with the fact that it's the most expensive dorm on campus to live in. We didn't go into very many of the buildings, but there were quite a few, so we would have been there forever if we had.

We left with a good impression overall. It was nicer than DH and I expected it to be. Cass went in with no expectations and doesn't get too excited about much, so she said, "It's fine." Great feedback, right? My nephew transferred there this year and he really likes it.

Thanks Jan! Great info and it sounded like a nice place. My bfs son went for two years and really liked it. He left to go to culinary school and do a 180 but spoke highly of his time there.

I graduated from CCSU and I like it. It was close enough to Enfield to commute or stay on campus (I did both in my time there.)

It's amazing to see all of the work they've done on campus over the last few years, new buildings, amenities, etc.
